Where Our Dog Runs 15x5 on Paper

|
This explores the depth of the land
as one Flies into Southern California. |
If our dog were still with us, she
would want to run everywhere toward the
Distant peaks. |

Thin ice and rapids mix in November light and early snow – enticing the start of winter. | A summer in Glacier – started up from the road early after a clear night-light frost. | The cascading early spring runoff
from far-off peaks drowns all other sounds and
blurs my glasses with mist. Inspired by an
Ansel Adams 1936 black and white photo. |

Deep in the Canyon 12x12 on Canvas
board $395 |
In midday light, the rock walls
reflect off each-other to burn off the morning
haze and turn the mighty river bright blue. This
painting inspired by a terrific photo by
Professional Photographer Amy S. Martin of
Flagstaff published in Arizona Highways. |
Like an olive in a martini, a sky
mountain enlivens the pinion-pine prairies of
Northern Arizona. This view from Observatory Mesa
west of Flagstaff. |
Very early one cold autumn morning the light focused on one mountain’s colors and terrain and flattened away everything deeper. |

Canyon Narrows 12x24 on
Stretched Canvas $495 |
The translucent sunrise clouds
opened momentarily to let the sun mark in red its
favorites across the eastern promontories of the
Grand Canyon. |
Rain in the canyons create
ephemeral clear pools beneath undulating
black-white rock ceilings. Do you see
someone there? |
To embrace the
Colorado River beneath the walls of the narrows in
the early morning. How to describe?
This painting inspired by a terrific photo by

Blue Mountain 9x11 on Paper $195 |
Wukoki 12x12 on Canvas board $295 |
Monument valley is a magical place
for all mankind, where we seem small and the
vastness challenged our fathers. |
In late afternoon light and shade
in the neighboring mountains feel blue while the
stream runs to the bright sun plain. This is
not a photo based place, but a place created by a
feeling. |
Northeast of Flagstaff
are the remains of past civilizations – cities and
villages like Wukoki enduring isolated centuries
in a vast desert-prairie, where survival was/is
tentative. |

Aspen Meadows 14x11 on Stretched
Canvas $295 |
Canyon Path 18x6 Canvas Wrap SOLD |
|
As one drives to the sky area on
Mt. Humphreys near Flagstaff, a sharp curve brings
you past the aspen meadow, which invites you to a
path beyond. |
I love the contrast of the skinny,
canyon view out to the magic mountains climbing to
the future. |
